The 2025 U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Luanda, Angola, wasn’t just another conference—it was a landmark event that brought together a powerful mix of leaders from both sides of the Atlantic. Hosted by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in partnership with the Angolan government, the four-day gathering was the largest of its kind, with nearly 2,800 participants from 85 countries. The goal? To forge new and stronger economic ties between the U.S. and Africa.
A Convergence of Power
The sheer number of influential figures in attendance made this summit truly stand out. Twelve African Heads of State and Government were present, including six presidents, highlighting Africa’s commitment to the partnership.
African Presidents at the summit included:
- João Lourenço, Republic of Angola
- Félix Tshisekedi, Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Taye Atske Selassie, Federal Democratic of Ethiopia
- Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Republic of Namibia
- Duma Gideon Boko, Republic of Botswana
- Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, Gabonese Republic
The summit also drew a strong U.S. government delegation, led by Ambassador Troy Fitrell. This high-level participation from both public and private sectors underscored a clear message: the commitment to strengthening U.S.-Africa economic cooperation is unwavering, regardless of political changes.
More Than Just Handshakes
With over 230 speakers and 31 country delegations, the summit was a hub for action and innovation. It served as a dynamic platform for high-level dialogue, investment matching, and policy discussions on key sectors essential for Africa’s growth and U.S. commercial engagement. The presence of major figures like Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group, and Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, further cemented the summit’s role in driving real progress.
The 2025 U.S.-Africa Business Summit proved that the private sector is a key driver of prosperity. By bringing together such a diverse and influential group, the event created new pathways for collaboration and reaffirmed the deep and growing partnership between the U.S. and Africa.
